Does anyone know of any home remedies for an earache...the glands in my neck hurt also...??
Answers: Don't mess with the ears... go to the doctor asap.
Lots of methylated cough drops will give you some relief.
A capful of peroxide works. Leave it sit for 5 minutes then switch ears. Continue this until the peroxide does not bubble when you put it in.
You should also buy some vitamin c at the store, the lowest dose possible. Take one pill every hour until you feel better. Sometimes vitamin c upsets your stomach after 5 or 6 hours, it's okay to stop taking it for a while but continue with this routine as soon as possible.
i would see a doctor if your glands are hurting as well, i have just been to the docs with my daughter today for the same thing he said the best pain killer for ear pain is ibuprofen, when i used to get ear ache as a kid my mam would put a little warm olive oil in my ear, and put a little cotton wool ball in my ear, that used to work.
Home remedies will relieve the pain but it will not cure it. If your neck glands are swollen too u might have an infection and the last thing you want to do is leave that untreated, you don't want it to get worse. To relieve the earache you want to apply warmth to the area. Warm compresses (not hot!) such as a warm towel (running it under warm water) on the area. Try a blow dryer and pass it by your ear don't hold it stationary. Try a liquid pillow. A hot water bottle wrapped in a towel also makes a comforting pillow for an aching ear.
Press on a gel pack. Another ear-warming alternative: Use a dual-purpose first-aid gel pack that you can warm up in hot water or the microwave.
Put your ear to the plate. Some people swear by old-time heat treatments like this: Warm up an oven-safe plate, wrap it in a towel, and rest your aching ear right on it. The plate should be warm and comforting, not hot.
Take pain reliever (Advil, Tylenol, etc)
I hope this helps ;)
I heard that putting onion juice on a cotton ball and putting it in your ear should help.
But I had my ear drum burst one time after feeling discomfort for only 24 hours, so now I get on antibiotics right away. Sorry you aren't feeling well!
a old mountian cure is to pee in a cup and pour it in the ear. let it stand for about 5 minutes then turn your head and pour it out. wipe clean and then use peroxide. hey the old timers tell me it works. but if its gone long enough for the glands to start hurting then you really need to go to the doctor.
A swedish man recommended that I get the juice of fresh garlic and olive oil and dip a cotton ball in the mixture and place it in your ear until you get relief. But, if you are in that much pain you should go to a doctor.
