5 HTP? Am i best taking 50mg or 100mg to help with sleeping and general feel good.??
Question: I know all about 5 htp si i don't need to be told about the dreams etc etc.
I'm just taking it to help with sleep problems and just to generaly brighten up my mood.
What dose do you recomend for this?
Answers: Start with 50mg a half hour before bedtime. If it's not potent enough, take 100mg the following evening, to see if that works better for you. If however you awake in the morning with headache, immediately go back to 50mg because one of the side effects of 5HTP is a banging head in the morning. This has to do with an issue with blood pressure during the night, so don't worry that a 5HTP headache is your brain misfiring. It's good stuff, and I've taken it for years without problem. I did have to reduce the dosage from 100mg to 50mg about six-months ago at the advice of a natural practitioner. I've no problem with it after that. Good luck, and sweet dreams!

are you planning to ask a doctor about this? or at least a pharmacist? they could tell you better than just random people who aren't certified.

i am taking 50mg two times a day...
it helps me feel relaxed and i sleep great also, i have been taking it for over six months and i am doing great still to this day
i never heard of 5htp giving you weird dreams either
100mg first off will be fine! if there is a probelem reduce the dosage... as i just wrote an assignment on 5htp i can recall alot of the studies for sleep being done at 600mg a DOSE so you have nothing to fear.
i take 50 mgs of 5 htp twice a day. with breakfast and lunch. i use melatonin to sleep. 5 htp doesn't help with my sleeping at all. 9 mgs an hour before bed and if i wake up another 6 mgs.
