Does smoking cannibis help relieve the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome??
Question: Please be sensible and sensitive with your responses. I've recently started seeing someone who uses cannibis openly and without concern, and she claims it helps to relax the symptoms of IBS. Is this true, or is her IBS a convenient excuse? Thanks
Answers: Sounds logical to me - IBS can be caused by stress - cannabis calms stress levels - to me that says that cannabis could relieve IBS. If it works why change it ???? Better she smokes that than drinks xxxx
i think there lying but iono im young.
NO . BUT WHEN YOU GET THE MUNCHIES EAT PRUNES.
I have heard that it does eleviate pain.....but depending on how often and how much she smokes it could be just a convenient excuse. Still it is illegal and shouldnt be used unless prescribed by a doctor.
I have IBS but don't use cannabis, but I would think it would help to relax the symptoms, as my son has often told me to try it for the same reason, but I don't want to try in case it does help cos then I would have to keep taking it.
Nope.... IBS is a diet and stress related disease.
You have to watch what you eat and drink
REMOVE THE CAUSE OF STRESS FROM YOUR LIFE
Then learn to relax more, smoking dope is not the answer!
I have heard it relaxes you only be carefull it may not help your problem it may make it worse ask someone else and get a few opinions before you even try it
I have Chrons Disease which is similar (Ill spare you the details) BUT I find it hurts so badly sometimes I cant eat.
Pot does help with the cramps and pain = and definately helps me eat.
The one person who you should really talk to about this is your girlfriend. :)
It should help with the pain, although I haven't come across this use before, but it certainly seems to help with arthritis and fybro-myalga.
There is always a danger of masking the symptoms rather than treating the cause.
Hey, It worked for me. Medical marijuana is used to treat nausea and gastric distress as well as to stimulate appetite in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Marijuana does effect the gastro-intestinal system in what can be a beneficial fashon. I suffered for years before I found this out for a fact.
No. She's just getting stoned. I'll have to remember that one.
It might or it might not. Either way before its use professional advice should be sort because the cure might lead to something worse.
Nope, just turns you into a pot head.
I don't know if it helps you, but smoking cannabis makes one want to go to the toilet, it relaxes you, and I have known someone with severe constipation to use it occasionally. It makes going slightly less uncomfortable, and off course it is a mild analgesic, pain doesn't seem so bad when you're stoned! I only hope she is not thinking she has IBS, when it is actually a side effect of withdrawal of cannabis(along with flu like symptoms and no appetite, being unable to get to or stay asleep). If she DOES have IBS, she should try something else instead. Smoking cannabis is just going to end up make problems of its own. PLEASE ask her to stop.
it helps most everything. Nausea, cramps, head aches. if this wasn't so beneficial, many countries would never think about legalizing it.
i had a major surgery and when i stoped taking the pain pills my stomach would always hurt exept when i smoked cannibis it would stop but who wants to be high all the time so there stomach wont hurt thats the decision your going to have to make lol
Well i'm not sure about cannibis but I have ibd and heard that smoking relieves the pain.
I imagine that it would, yes, since IBS is caused by stress and cannibis makes you feel relaxed. However, it would be so much better if you could find an alternative form of stress release to get rid of it naturally. As well as cannabis being extremely damaging to your lungs (much worse than ordinary cigarettes), it is also believed that long-term effects include increased anxiety and psychosis.
