What are the best alternative remedies for ocd??


Answers: I read an article in Time magazine about a study, where doing MDMA(ecstasy) helped rid people of ocd's negative effects for 2-4 weeks. It mentioned that it could be because it helps create an alternative path of thinking. but be careful and do your research. if you don't abusive it, and fallow all the safety guidelines of the drug, it could be a very good and fun treatment.

If you mean alternative to drugs , cognitive behavioral therapy can be very helpful to people with OCD to help control compulsive behavior and/or obsessive thoughts....it's talk therapy that focuses on changing your thought patterns.
Try a good homeopath. I can't suggest remedies online since that would be unethical.
Having suffered with OCD for much of my life, I have found medicine (Zoloft) to lesson the impact of OCD. However, the only true remedy I believe for OCD is prayer and meditation. Look deep within and find why you so desperately need that control. Learn to let the control go, or give it over to a less obtrusive obsession (like pressing your lips together, or counting your teeth with your tongue) whenever you feel anxiety or a compulsion arising. It's a tough disorder to overcome. Good luck!
I have a brother who used to have it very badly. I taught him a western meditation/relaxation therapy that is called float and note, He has been doing this for about 10 years now, and has told me that he thinks his OCD is 90% improved over this time. So I think meditation and relaxation techniques would be the way to go. It's certainly worth a try.

There are many different types of meditation so find the right one for you, but float and note is an easy place to start.

You do it like this. You find a time in the day when you will not allow yourself to be disturbed. ie no one is to come in to room or bother you in anyway. Turn of your phone. Make sure the room is nice and tidy light are down etc.

Do something like light a candle oil burner with some lavender oil. (optional)

Sit or lay down in a comfortable position. try to keep as still as possible but don't worry about moving if your uncomfortable.

Try to keep your breathing gentle and relaxed. breath quite deeply, slowly, and rythmically and keep your breaths smooth.

Meditation is mainly about the breath. Start with a 5 minute session and try to build up to 20 minute sessions one or two sessions a day it up to you.

The tecnique is very simple. The point of what you are trying to do is to clear you mind of all thoughts, this isn't easy for anybody but particularly people with OCD but in time it will get easier.

As soon as you are aware you are having a thought you just say to yourself I have noted that thought and I will think about it after my meditation or tomorrow or when ever. The reality of this is usually you never bother, but, anyway that what you tell yourself. It's that simple. Initially it will be very hard to stop your thought's popping into your head. This is normal don't get angry with yourself, but after a few weeks of pracice it will get easier and easier. I promise if, you stick to meditation it will revolutionalise your life.
Have you tried the Bach Flower Remedies? My advice firstly would be to seek a therapist in your area, but as an experienced Bach Flower practitioner myself, I know that the best remedies for OCD are Crab Apple and White Chestnut. These remedies really do work and are completely safe for babies, animals and even plants, providing you are not allergic to the tiny amount of grape alcohol (used as a preservative in the stock bottles), and you are not a reforming alcoholic.

The remedies are brilliant and very effective. If you are willing to give them a try, you will need to persevere with them. Please don't expect miracles with the first dose and particularly if you have had OCD for a long time. The Bach Flower remedies worked for me and that is why I am still here today doing all the things I do.

Go to your local health store and purchase Bach Flower Crab Apple and also White Chestnut. Crab apple is for the inability to control the need to repetatively do something; for the self disgust that goes with that, and for the over-concentration on minor details. Just as examples: for when you feel compelled to clean something frequently even though you know it's already clean enough; finding fault with your appearance all the time; for physically and mentally feeling unclean. Crab Apple helps you to regain control of your patterns of thought. White Chestnut is for repetative concerns, unwanted repetative worries that go round and round in your head causing you to be unable to concentrate on anything else. White Chestnut will help to calm your mind, lift the anxiety, enabling you to think clearly and gain control.

You will need to buy from your pharmacist some 30 ml dropper bottles. Fill these with water allowing enough room to add 2 drops of each remedy together with 2 drops of Brandy - as a preservative, particularly if you are going to be carrying the bottle in a pocket. Keep a bottle by your bed, one at work and another in your bag or pocket and take 4 drops on your tongue throughout the day, as many times as you like - minimum of 4 times a day.

I suggest that you continue to take conventional medicine alongside the Bach Flower remedies, and when you begin to feel changes taking place inform your GP that you would like to try gradually reducing your medication.
