Natural Herbal Remedies??
Question: Anyone know of any herbal remedies for anxiety and/or depression?
Answers: This may sound easier to do that it actually is--exercise and sunlight. That should help mild depression or anxiety.
I really don't know. I think chamomile calms your nerves
Sure. In Germany, the herb St. John's Wort is the drug of choice for cases of mild to moderate depression and it also has anti-anxiety properties. Taking it can cause dermatitis and photosensitivity and if you have any tendency toward mania, its use can trigger an episode. So I would recommend you consult a professional herbalist or naturopath. Herbs are medicines and it's really best not to self-medicate.
valarian root works pretty well but it can cause drowsiness. In fact valium (a prescrition medicine for anxiety) is a synthesized form of valieran root. I it take in tincture form once or twice a day if I m real jittery.
There normally sell tinctures at a health food store and some pharmacies.
Chamomile and mint also help if your stomach reacts to the tension. Some people suffer from an upset stomach when feeling anxiety and the two herbs above can calm the stomach and the nerves.
St. john's wort hasn't ever worked for me or anyone I know but it s worth a shot.
A real simple way to deal with panic attacks is to just walk or run. If you get an attack, just get moving and it will go away. All panic really is, is an extra shot of adrenanlin for no reason at all. So if you walk it off you'll feel better.
Also there is a connection between sugar and panic.
Some people who are diabetic or hypoglcemic will experince as a result of the problems they have processing sugar. Even if your not diabetic or hypoglycemic, the flip-flop you get from sugar can set you off.
Cutting down on sugar and sticking to wheat bread and brown rice as opposed to white will help alot.
For deppression there are these really great homeopathic lozenges called blues drops
You can normally find them at a healthfood store. They are by a company called historical remedies.
