To people that prepare Natural Home Remedies: Should I use this home remedy??

Question: My mother in law said to toast pumpkin seeds (well toasted), than smash the seeds until they turn into powder, pour into a 1/2 glass of carrot juice, then add 5 drops of garlic juice and give it to my dad for 3 days. This is to cure his diarrea and bleeding or infection in his intestines. What do you think?
Answers: I would suggest the Brat diet for his diarrhoea.
Bananas.
Rice.
Apples.
Toast.

Believe me I know.
I am unsure about the bleeding side of it, and I would be contacting the hospital for follow-up treatment and diet.
Old wives recipes sometimes work, but in this case I would trust the hospital first.
WOW! Bad plan!! Nothing in that mixture is for diarrea or bleeding. As a matter of fact, it would most likely make it worse. Please don't give that to him! To start, if he is bleeding from his rectum, he NEEDS to see a doctor. It could be as simple as bleeding hemmaroids, but it could also be somthing as serious as colon cancer. So with that in mind, go find out. If he wants to use natural/herbal remedies after he gets the diagnosis, fine. But get the diagnosis. If you choose to not follow that advice, here is a list of herbs that can be used for the symptoms he has. Psyllium husks (1 Tablespoon in 8 oz of water) for the diarrea. But he will need to drink LOTS of water along with that. Dont want to become impacted! Marshmellow root or Slippery Elm Bark capsules to sooth the intestinal tract. Do not take these at the same time as the psyllium, they will inhibit each other and not work very well. The capsules should be taken at least 30 minutes AFTER the psyllium. For the bleeding, Yarrow will stop it. This can be taken with the psyllium. As far as the infection...the garlic is antimicrobial to an extent, but mostly it's good for the cardio-vascular system. If by infection, you feel he has the flu, well then just treat symptoms, but let it run its course. He will build up anti-bodies to that virus and so the next time he is exposed to it, he will either not get it, or just get a very mild case of it. Good luck to you & your Dad!
Rae, a mixture of Yarrow leaves and flowers, innerbark of the white oak, ginger root, and sage in equal parts and then made into a tea will take care of most forms of Diarrhea fairly quickly. I have also tried successfully a bowl of boiled Callaloo leaves that worked in one day on a case of dysentery that I had when I was in the Carribean. A good substitute for Callaloo would be fresh spinach leaves, boiled for 6 minutes and eaten. For some reason it seems to eliminate the diarrhea in no time at all. HAve your dad try this. It tastes sort of bad but it is high in vitamins and iron as well as provides the fiber to take care of the Diarrhea.
