Can brushing your teeth too much do more harm then good???

Question: cuz sometimes i think i over do it on the brushing
Answers: Brushing your teeth too much can cause abrasions (grooves on the tooth surface). Some thing to think about . . . why are you brushing your teeth so much? A person simply needs to brush (floss) twice a day to keep the plaque from building up and hardening on the tooth surface. Fresh breath, germs ? Simply chew a healthy breath freshen gum, rinse with water or mouth rinse. No need to brush more than twice (at most 3 times) a day.
You can do more harm then good.

Dont do the gums as much.
It could, if you do it too much, just as if you drink so much water that your stomach explodes does more harm than good.
yea you can rub your gums raw w/ a brush...dang..
I don't think there's anything bad about it, except if you're brushing too hard and your gums start bleeding. In that case you should stop because I don't think it's good when toothpaste gets into an open wound.
Just brush gently but thoroughly after each meal and don't forget to floss . Thats all you need to do . Any more than that and you can wear the enamel thin and also cause the gums to recede .
No I Wouldnt Say That. Jus Dont Be Rough With Your Teeth.
yeah, it could cause your tooth to bleed.
Yes, you can wear your enamel all off, and actually make cavities.
There's other ways to clean your mouth than always brushing. Brush well and then overdo it with the floss and mouthwash. Hold the mouthwash in your mouth and gargle with it for ten minutes. Floss whenever whereever. You can never get enough tongue scraping it seems.
Only if you use a jack hammer, cement or used chicken grease to brush them...

Otherwise, it's actually good for them! Believe it or not!

9 out of 10 dentists agree!
It can remove the dental enamel that protects your teeth. This will make your teeth very sensitive and more prone to cavities
My son was told he was brushing to hard and wearing the enamel off. A dentist told him this.
Yes you are doing damage to your gums . If you are try to take the plack off your teeth . Just do what the dentist says just brush your teeth for only around 2 mins . And then again when you are going to bed . And you can also buy toothpast which makes you teeth come out white in a few weeks . And it worked for me .
No, with a SOFT toothbrush and proper brushing technique, you should be fine.

I ALWAYS recommend my patients to brush more and more.

Personally, I use a sonicare toothbrush and brush my teeth about 2-3 times daily. This brushing machine brushes the teeth about 15,000 times per minute.

If you use a regular toothbrush, it would take hours to get 15,000 times.

What about the problem of toothbrush abrasion ? This condition is often a misdiagnosed for dental abfraction, which is a totally different issue. True toothbrush abrasion can be prevented by using a soft toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste.

Best Wishes & Happy Brushing
