Whats the difference between a dentist and an orthondontist.??
Answers: EVERY ORTHODONTIST IS A DENTIST, BUT NOT EVERY DENTIST IS AN ORTHODONTIST.
WHAT DO I MEAN?
DENTISTRY, LIKE MEDICINE, HAS SPECIALTIES. AMONG ONE OF THESE IS ORTHODONTICS. THIS SPECIALTY INVOLVES THE ART AND SCIENCE OF EVERYTHING HAVING TO DO WITH THE ARRANGEMENT OF THE TEETH AND THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE JAWS TO THOSE TEETH.
GENERAL DENTISTRY CAN BE LIKENED TO FAMILY PRACTICE MEDICINE. JUST LIKE A DERMATOLOGIST IS A PHYSICIAN FIRST, SO IS AN OPHTHALMOLOGIST, OR A PSYCHIATRIST. EACH SPECIALTY DOES WHAT TRAINING THEY HAVE RECEIVED.
ortho works with braces.
A dentist is a doctor who provides routine care for your teeth and gums along with minor oral surgeries. An orthodontist is a dentist who has undergone special training (I believe it has to be at least two years) and specializes in the straightening of teeth and jaw alignment (usually by means of braces and appliances.)
The dentist is the dude who is concerned with the pathologic aspect of your teeth, (and gums, for that matter). So he does -like- fillings, root cannals, and horrid stuff like that. Now, the orthodontist, is the cooler, (and generally richer), dude, who deals with the health of your teeth in a more aesthetic way. He's the guy that gives you braces, for example. Alot of things though, they both do, for example cleanings, getting your teeth whitened, etc.
ok, guys here is the differences between two of them:
The dentist : treat diseases and injuries of the teeth and oral cavity and to construct and insert restorations of and for the teeth, jaws, and mouth,
The orthondontics : area of dentistry concerned with the supervision , guidance and correction of the growing and mature dentofacial structures,
A dentist works on the health of your teeth. An orthodontist is someone who examines the alignment of the jaw.
ortho = braces and teeth straghtning
Dentist means tooth extractor cavity filler and other stuff the only thing that she doesnt to is orthodontics unlesss she has a degree in it
A dentist is a Dr. that treats problems with teeth like cleanings, x-rays, pulling, whatever. An orthodontist is one who puts braces on and straightens teeth. In it for the long haul. they don't usually cross over. Seperate fields.
