do they have to put a shot in my gums or somehting..
cuz i hate shotss!! =O
Answers: No, no shots unless you are have to have some teeth extracted before you get braces put on. You must be going for a consult soon. The first thing they do is take some impressions of your teeth. These are made with a pink buble gum flavor material that is put in a tray and then placed in your mouth on the bottom and then on the top. Be sure to breath through your nose while your doing these. Next they will take some x rays of your teeth, a pano or cephlo, these are the ones take a x ray of your whole head. Then they will take some photos of your teeth with some little mirrors in your mouth, and of your face in a profile and straight on position. Then you usually come back in a couple of weeks for the consultation to talk with the doctor about what kind of treatment you will be needing. Then they may put spacers on that day or at another appointment. They are real easy. Then the next appointment is for the actual braces to be placed. So you see, you have a little ways to go yet. They will go over each appointment with you, and what they are going to do at the next appointment, before you leave. So calm down, there is nothing to get excited about right now. You are going to love the beautiful smile that you will soon have when it's all over with! Good luck with your appointment!
no shots in your mouth...i have had three kids with braces ...no shots.

they basically use pliers to pull off the braces. doesnt hurt, and doesnt take very much time. and just think how nice your teeth will look! i had braces for 2 years and was anxious to get them off!
no they don't and it isnt scarerry at all it only hurts a little whent they put the braces on

i opted for the shots... but you can request gas.
the shots dont hurt much though, they rub an ointment on your gums to make them go numb, you feel like a lil pinch, and its over.
