Came from dentist 2 hours ago, mouth still numb from injections. Is this normal for it to be this long??
Question: Actually, it wasn't as numb when I left the office. Then two hours later, it got even more numb. Now the numbness has traveled to the left side of my face. Normal?
Answers: Yes...
It actually depends on how many injections.....but normally it is normal
yes 4 hr approx
yep, all is normal. now try drinking out of a straw, lol...
the whole side of your face can get numb and mine usually last for about 6 hours.
it's OK. the novacaine takes about 4 hours to wear off, and you get some strange sensations sometimes while waiting for it to wear off. Be glad it is numb for a while--pain!
YES, THAT DOES LAST LONG
THE LATER PORTION OF THE ANESTHETIC EFFECTS IN WHICH IT APPARENT MOVES TO WHERE IT WASN'T MEANT TO NUMB IS A MYSTERY TO ME. WAS THE RIGHT SIDE WORKED ON ONLY?
ANESTHETIC DEPENDING ON WHICH TYPE WAS USED MAY TAKE MORE THAN A FEW HOURS TO STOP BEING EFFECTIVE.
I'm a dentist.
Yes, this is entirely possible even under normal circumstances (e.g. no nerve injury). If the doctor used a long-acting anesthetic such as Marcaine, expect to be numb for up to 6 to 8 hours.
If you find yourself numb tomorrow, start to consider the possibility of a nerve injury.
yes, that is why it is best to not get novacaine. when i would get it, it would make half my body numb and others have told me it made their arms and hands tingle. have them use an anesthetic without epinephrine. all dentists have them on hand. one i recommend is scandonest 3%, non vaso-constrictor.
