Does stress cuase tmj??

Question: does TMj come from stress how do i treat tmj if i get braces will it treat tmj
Answers: The most common cause of TMJ is grinding your teeth. Stress and arthritis are also a cause. If it is caught early, it will probably respond to resting the muscles and joints by eating soft foods, not chewing gum, avoiding clenching or tensing, and relaxing muscles with moist heat (1/2 hour at least twice daily). Relaxation techniques and stress reduction, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxants or other medications may be indicated in a dose your doctor recommends. Other therapies may include fabrication of an occlusal splint to prevent wear and tear on the joint. Improving the alignment of the upper and lower teeth and surgical options are available for advanced cases. After diagnosis, your doctor may suggest further consultation with your dentist and oral surgeon to facilitate effective management of TMJ dysfunction. You can read more about it here

Stress is a cause. The physician will prescribe a bite guard for when you sleep as that's when it bothers most people.
braces won't help. but seeing your dentist might as you may have an infection causing inflammation on the nerves causing lower jaw pain and ear pain, classic signs of TMJ, and yes also stress can make any situation worse.
i have tmj and i have to wear a mouth piece a night and it helps ask your dr about it
There ARE other reasons, such as stress, but many people grind or clench their teeth because they do not meet exactly correctly. If your teeth do not meet correctly, they cause your jaw to shift slightly out of the joint to compensate for the mismatch in your bite. A bite appliance - when properly made - will eliminate the influence of the teeth over the position the bones take in the TMJ. It will allow your jaw to rest in the balanced (and comfortable) position where it belongs. After wearing an appliance for a while, your dentist might suggest some adjustments to your bite, slightly altering (grinding) the surfaces so that they no longer have any interferences to closing with your jaw in the proper position.
Part 1- NO - you have an underlying problem. Stress makes it WORSE and causes you more PAIN, but you have an underlying problem. dont' let people tell you otherwise.
Part 2 - It might make it better, but it could make it worse. Most likely you will notice improvement when you start treatment. Get SEVERAL opinions and make sure what they are going to do makes sense. Teeth/Jaws that are out of alignment can cause all kinds of TMJ trouble. Do not expect your results to be permanent because the forces with regard to TMJ are so powerful that you could have trouble again once your treatment is finished, so you might have to do it again. It gets WORSE in some people. Stress management will help you - lifelong - do not drink caffiene - it makes everything worse. If you start having trouble you can always stop the treatment, make sure you can stop if you have trouble. It's most likely going to be a huge blessing for you, but you have to go into it with realistic expectations. That's the key thing. Ask plenty of people. There's the TMJ Association, www.tmj.org - also make sure your orthodontist is board certified. Some people claim to know stuff,a nd they dont' know anything. I know more than many of them. It makes me sick that I do. I'm not supposed to know more than them. you need to get plenty of opinions and then sort them out. Helps if you do this in a big city.
TMJ can be caused by stress, teeth grinding or braces.
What's TMJ?? Whatever it is there's this website called www.tmj.org if you need to know anything about it.
If stress makes u clench your teeth then it may cause a TMJ problem, treatment is night guard, anti-inflammatory and some instructions that suits the complaint.
