How do I reduce swelling after wisdom tooth extraction??

Question: I recently(Friday)got 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out. I had hardly any swelling the first day, then when I woke up the next morning (Saturday) I was pretty swollen. Its not Sunday and it hasn't gotten any better. Ive used ice on and off in 20 minute intervals and it hasn't helped. I also took Motrin but that also did not help. I want to be able to attend school tomorrow. Is there any way to reduce the swelling quickly.
Answers: Ice is only to be used the day of the extractions. you need to use a heating pad (set on low) or a warm compress at this point. it will start working pretty fast. keep taking the ibuprofin-its an anti-inflammatory and will help.
Follow your doctor's instructions. There will be swelling no matter what because of the placement and the tenderness of your gums and the surrounding skin. Continue to use ice and do not drink anything warm/hot.

Sorry, but there will be swelling, but hopefully it goes down quickly!
If you've done the ice and the motrin, there's not much else you can do. The swelling will go down soon enough and you should be able to go to school tomorrow as long as you take it easy. I imagine you'll still be on the pain medication so you just need to be careful and take it easy. But the swelling will go down soon enough you just have to be patient. When I got mine out, by the third day, you could hardly notice the swelling, so you should be okay.
you could use pain medication, such as Advil
