Pain releiver for a pulled tooth??

Question: My husband had his tooth pulled and he's miserable. We've tried painkillers, tea bags, and warn rags.Does anyone have any pain suggestions?
Answers: It would be helpful to know when the tooth was pulled.
If it's been 3 days or so, and he's not on an antibiotic, call the dental office and tell them what's going on. They'll ask the dentist if he wants to call an antibiotic in for him.
If it's more recent, try a sandwich bag of ice on his cheek for 15 mins., off 15 mins., repeat as necessary.
Also, he needs to keep his head above his heart. Which just means to keep a couple pillows under his head when he rests. It helps tremendously with the blood flow to the extraction site.
If the tooth was pulled a week or so ago, he may have a dry socket. Call the office and tell them what's going on.
I hope he feels better soon!
Use that stuff they use when babies are teething. It's called Anbesol, I think. My hubbie used it when his filling fell out. It's liquid and you just put it right on the tooth (or, in his case, where the tooth used to be). Poor guy.
