Slightly Chipped tooth????

Question: I know I grind my teeth at night, which is probably how this happened. I have a chip in my left front tooth and it bothers me terribly. I went to the dentist and he told me there was not much that could be done, which I totally dont buy. In order to fix my problem, you will need to 'file' the chipped tooth down, then 'file' the other front tooth to make them even again. This seems easy enough to me. Anyone els have similar things happen, and do you think my doc is full of it too? Thanks
Answers: I have had that happen a couple of times to my front tooth. My dentist fixed it for me without filing anything down. You need to find a dentis who knows what he is doing.
there are things to do for that, such as bonding, crowns and veneers. Get a second opinion

my tooth is chipped but yea u could file them down just dont file them alot or else ull go down to the nerve and f your teeth up
Yep, get u a fingernail file and file it across and then get some
calcium tablets to build it back up.
melt a calcium tablet on it.
Get some enamel care toothpaste with calcium
dentists just dont want to fool with grownups teeth anymore.
go to another dentist get a second opinion or look up a cosmetic dentist because i know two people that got their chipped tooth fixed so yes it can be fixed dont know how but i have seen the results i dont think they had them filed it was probably fixed the same way a filling is done or maybe with a cap whatever it was they looked good as new so good luck
Don't let him file your other teeth. Go to another dentist. You could get a veneer or have it bonded. You may want to have a custom bite guard made by your new dentist so you do not damage your other teeth in the future.
