Answers: Yes get the fixed one . Permanent metal brace behind my teeth.
I have had mine since 1982. I love it.
I have to floss differently, yet its so worth it. My teeth are still straight. Really pretty after all these years. THANK GOD!
I would get a night guard (clear plastic) for nighttime- they can make it after the fixed one is put IN. That is even better.
I have used that and it really helps, if you grind or have sensitve teeth or gums.
My husband had braces at the same time and did not use his retainer and his teeth look like crap!
Buy a Soniccare toothbrush from the dentist- insurance will help pay for it. JUST incredible things for your gums and mouth.
i think removable metal is the best
This sounds familiar :) I had braces for a while. I have the fixed bottom and the plastic top. The top one is the one that is clear and is a mold of my teeth (vs the one that is part plastic and metal). I like this set-up the best because I do not have to worry about my bottom teeth and I feel that the plastic top retainer keeps its shape the best. Just remember to wear your retainer(s) every night to make sure that your teeth don't shift again.
I had that plastic one too... it sucked! They switched me to the removable upper and fixed lower after and those worked great! Just remember to keep it clean!
you probably got braces for the second time cuz you didn't wear the retainer like you should have ! : }
Spend the extra money. I have to go back and spend more money now, because the removable lower retainer isn't enough. As soon as it comes off, my teeth shift. You don't want to have to deal with that, and of course, you don't want to have braces again. Good luck!
Well, if you are getting a retainer to keep your teeth from getting crooked again, then it might not really matter. I would get the removable upper and fixed bottom retainer, only because the plastic kind sometimes changes shape. That could cause it to put your teeth in a bad position. I am getting braces in about... three weeks. I have to get a built in retainer to help my over bite. :( But, I am sure everything will be okay with you. Hope this helps!
