What is the normal price of a deep cleaning for teeth??

Question: I need some of my gums cut to lenghten my teeth and the dentist wants to do the deep cleaning first. I think it is crazy to deep clean then cut the gums anyways, help!
Answers: It depends on where you live as to how much they will charge you for a deep cleaning eg. scaling and root planing. You need deep cleaning first to remove any tarter under your gums and to reduce the bio-film that adheres to the tarter causing the source of infection. Scaling and root planing can be priced from two to four hundred dollars per quad as the above person mentioned. It is important to reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth so your root lengthening surgery will go well and you can heal faster than if you had all of that tarter and bacteria present. I would suggest you look up periodontal disease and crown/tooth lengthening on yahoo so you can fully understand the reasoning behind your dentists/periodontists reasons for suggesting the treatment that you need.
Before the gum tissue is surgically removed it is important to know where its position will be when healthy, i.e. when healed after the deep cleaning. The less scary term deep cleaning is a polite description of a procedure known as Scaling and Root Planing. The procedure is often charged per quadrant in the mouth. Therefore, Scaling and Root Planing of all teeth would be 4x the quadrant fee. This can range from $200-$400 per quadrant.
I paid 160 per quadrant for mine
here it is $55 per quadrant, can't speak for the US.
