Answers: I definently know what u mean. I had spacers before and they hurt like h*** but in time the pain lessens because as the teeth more farther apart there's less pressure accuring. I'd give it about a week to stop hurting so bad. I can't remember taking any medication for it because i like to develope a high tolerance for pain so when i don't have any medicine i'm fine and so when i have to go through something very painful it doesn't seem so bad. But if u want to take meds for it i'd say to take advil or ibruphrofin. Numbing it should work too but if u have traintracks or a retainer too than the coldness will hurt the rest of ur mouth so it might not be the best option for u. Good Luck, hope the pain goes away soon for u.
I know how you feel. Spacers are even more painful than braces themselves, believe me they hurt. The best thing to do is to take Advil or Motrin, and suck on Ice Pops or Popscicles, or even ice cubes. I would also suggest rubbing that gum numbing paste (sounds weird, but It works) on your molars and around them to numb the area.
to be honest with you, when i had spacers going into 11th grade... it seemed no matter wat i did it hurt. sneezing, coughing, drinking, eating were all common problems. i suggest (a dentist may recommend this to you, as he did for my wisdom teeth removal). take 3-4 200mg ibuprofens ever 5 or so hours... they work like a charm for me, and wisdom teeth removal hurts far more than spacers so im sure this should help you out a little bit.
you should deffinatley use motrin or tylenol....i had spacers before and i know how u feel
