How do you make braces feel less painful??

Question: How do you decrease the pressure that braces put on your teeth? How long does the pain last?
Answers: When I had braces as a kid usually just a couple of ibuprofen helped with the pain.
Based on my past experience, it may last up to two days. I had lots of work done, so this may be worst case scenario. Try oral gel and apply to gum, or you may want to ask your doctor for some kind of pain killers. Good luck!
My sister got braces and she was miserable for about a month. (she had a major job done and had them tightened often) Use the dental wax the doctor gave you to ease the transition. She cut her mouth up not doing it at first. Your mouth has to transition.

Over time they will be normal to have on and no pressure.
I don't know. Tylenol/Advil and all that helps a bit. I just had mine adjusted yesterday. I personally don't really see the whole point behind them. They glue metal to your mouth, giving you serious tooth pain, making you cut your cheeks with them, and making it impossible to brush properly or floss at all, making your teeth all different colors and stuff.. to make them straight... to make you wear a retainer for the rest of your life. Yes, the rest of your life. Which is worse: somewhat uneven teeth that are all white or perfect teeth that are all mottled and yellow, I ask you?
yeahh!! ibuprofen is the best ideaa!! =)
well, you really can't do anything to decrease the pressure but you can help with the pain. use the wax for the places that rub your mouth. take the ibriprofin before your appt so it will be in your system. right after your appt start chewing fredent gum. This is gum for people with dentures but it wont stick to your braces. chew it most of that day and it will work the soreness out. Its painful but cuts down on the time you are sore. Drink some warm tea or hot chocolate and hold it in your mouth for several seconds before swallowing.
The pain could last several days to a week but if you chew the gum probably 1-2 days
hang in there!
well, you can take Advil or Tylenol. if it hurts to chew your food, stick to soft foods that require little to no chewing. here is a link that shows you what foods are ok to eat.
