What happens when your dentist leaves part of a root in your mouth??

Question: i went to the dentist to get a tooth pulled and i think he left part of the root in.
Answers: CAROL,
IF THIS TOOTH WAS NOT INFECTED, THEN THE BODY MAY SIMPLY RESBORB THE ROOT, IF IT'S A SMALL PIECE. A LARGER FRAGMENT WOULD NEED TO BE REMOVED BY AN ORAL SURGEON BECAUSE THE BODY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RESORB IT.
Having a tooth extracted is different from a root canal. Which did you have? If the tooth still seems sensitive it might be so, but remember that your mouth is still sore from the extraction so you might give it a few days.
that's just what happened to me today.
I pulled a wisdome tooth and he left a small part of the root in. I m worried too.. help!
Can't a dentist see if a part of root or tooth is still in there just by looking at the extracted tooth? I would think they could see a piece missing that should have come out.
