Dental Question??

Question: I'm on medicaid, and I have a condition called soft teeth where it just crumbles into pieces and there's nothing you can do. Brushing aggravates the condition. I'll need to have them all pulled out and have false teeth... problem is... I have an extremely high sensitivity to pain, especially in the mouth. The standard doses of painkillers (shots... novocaine, is it called?), doesn't work at all. Last time I had one pulled, I felt so much pain I was shaking, sweating, crying, and wanted to just rip something apart. General anesthesia isn't covered, and neither is any other pain killer at all, and I'm now extremely worried about the false teeth... is it even covered? How am I supposed to even smile, laugh, and eat? I'm only 26!! I don't want to show only the gums! Looked everywhere in my area for a dentist who can really help, but all wants the money up front, and I can't afford any other insurance. Help!!!!!!!!
Answers: Contact the insurance company. They can answer any questions regarding your benefits. I do believe that medicaid does not cover getting put under. Let your dentist know that you are still feeling pain, even with the novocaine. You should not be feeling any pain at all! Also, you'll probaly only go a month or so until you get your false teeth. The swelling from pulling all the teeth needs to go down before they can even fit you for your false teeth.
You could apply for a credit at the office or go to like a community health center.
Make sure that you tell them to give you enough novacaine, or laughing gas also works good. After the sugery, they usually place a temporary denture in the same.
You have a medical condition that is destroying your teeth. You are on medicaid. There should be no question about whether medicaid pays for it. From the sounds of it, your teeth will be gone in a month anyway.
Dentists can put you to sleep while they pull your teeth. The worst part is getting the mold made for dentures. (very cold) Once your old teeth are out, the new ones are put in immediately so the swelling is kept to a minimum. If you don't get immediate dentures, you will have to wait for a month or so for the swelling to go down before you can get fitted for dentures.
Your dentist should work with medicaid to make sure that dentures and extractions will be paid for. If he explains why you need them, they may cooperate. If you have to pay for the anesthesia, it would be worth it.
Good luck.
I'm sorry but Medicaid won't pay for dentures (false teeth). They won't even pay for braces. If you where a minor under 18, then you would have a better chance. Your best bet would be to pay in cash, creditcard, or get a loan.
Hiya, I could help with the cost, but I do not think I can post my site here with the info. For a very low monthly fee you can save alot on dental even cosmetic. Send me an email if you want to see details. On the other hand depending where you live you can find some less experienced dentist that will do all or part of the work for free for practice hours or crdit hours. I can help you find them if you will forward at least where you live. Must be in USA by the way, About the pain, well that should come with a reduced price too with this plan.
We help many people with the money part. It is sad that Medicaid considers dental a luxury.
