Do braces hurt more for adults lets say for a (27 year old )compared to when kids get braces??

Question: I ask because I am 27 years old and I just got braces and they hurt like a %^*$%! The upper lip is hurting like heck due to the braces brushing against them and I haven't been able to eat properly since I got them. Eating is a nightmare since all my teeth are sore as heck and also the back metal holders brush against the sides of my tongue. I just got them on Friday and today is Monday so I've had them for like 3 days.

The reason I ask this question is because I hear that when kids get them it isn't so bad for them. Could this be because the teeth of adults are much more set in place than a kids and are easier to move for kids??
Answers: They hurt but you should have decent comfort level in about a a few more days.. Hopefully you are eating soft foods and using your wax so your braces are not rubbing on your top lip. I am 33 and I have had mine since 01/12/07. It is was no picnic after there were put on but the pain subsides and its is not so fun after an adjustment. The pain is not as bad.

The discomfort level in children may be different as their teeth are still moving and it may not effect them as much but I am sure they feel something.
yeah they are going to hurt- im 16 and just got them off- trust me dude or chick - it hurt worst when they thighten them than when they take them off- truth is it hurts worst for us so suck it up
age sort of matters because kids' teeth are still developing. adults' teeth have already been used to their permanent positions.well, you said you've been trying to eat. there's your problem. stop trying to eat! eat food that you don't have to chew like jello, pudding, mashed potatoes, soup, etc. as for your lip, your orthodontist should have given you wax to put on them. if not, go to a drug store or something and buy orajel and apply it inside of your lip to numb it and remove the pain. im not exactly sure if age has anything to do with it but it might be. by the way, you won't be able to chew your food for at leat a week. and also.... don't eat with silverware. try plastic instead. trust me. if you use silverware and accidentally bang it against your teeth when eating, you WILL start crying. it feels as if an anvil has been dropped on your back while you stepped in a doggy no-no.

good luck :-)
