Novacaine question??

Question: is novacaine necessary for all chips in teeth? I have a tiny chip in the bottom left hand corner of my top right front tooth. It is about the size of a lowercase o on YA. Is novacaine needed? Also, what is the process of fixing the chip?
Answers: No, you won't need anaesthetic because it's just a chip in the enamel on the biting edge of your tooth. Sometimes all they do is smooth it down if it's a small chip. Otherwise, they'll etch it with a gel solution, then apply a bonding agent before placing tooth-coloured composite resin filling material. Then they'll light-cure it and polish it up. Good to go. =)
don't know about price (although it does vary!) but novocaine is preferable
it depends on whether or not its close to the nerve. fixing the chip is very similar to getting a filling for a cavaty. the dentist will fill it. you could also get a permanant crown put on, but this option is expensive. talk with your dentist to see whats best for you.
well its not going to hurt you, but its not necessary, they will have to add porcelain to your tooth to fix it...no pain involved.
Ifs its not to big the dentist wont use novacaine. The dentist will use the drill to adjust the chip to match the other front tooth. The water is the only thing that might bother you. Just ask the dentist to turn the water off.
