Why are my 11 month old daughter's teeth turning yellow??
Question: I brush my daughter's teeth and they still changed colour. She drinks enfamil with iron, could the iron be doing this?
Answers: BEFORE YOU CHANGE YOUR DAUGHTERS FORMULA YOU SHOULD TALK TO YOUR PEDIATRICIAN.
THEY MUST THINK SHE NEEDS THE IRON.
I TOOK MY DAUGHTER TO THE DENTIST AFTER SHE TURNED ONE SO SHE COULD GET USED TO HIM .A DENTIST WOULD HAVE THE RIGHT RECOMMENDATION FOR YOUR DAUGHTER TOO.
SPEAK WITH THE FAMILY DR. FIRST
WE ALL HAVE OPINIONS ON HERE AS MOTHERS AND FATHERS BUT THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE JUST ARE OPINION WE ARE NOT DR'S.
they can cause this. Why don't you put your child on regular infamil. Then an iron supplement on the side. All that iron is going straight to her teeth, but if you just give her iron drops, they will go through her stomach.
yes and it probably is my niece on my husbands side had to have her babies teeth removed because they started to decay over the iron in her milk switch her to regular milk and watch to much juice this can do that to
You need to take her to the dentist. There is pediatric dentist. I had to take my son when he was that age. My sons was caused by medication. His first set came in like that then they started turning black. Most of his teeth had to be capped. Don't wait, Have the teeth out, Because it could be serious. And become very painful for the baby.
Its never to early to start taking them to the Dentist. It could turn out to be nothing or something more serious like my sons was.
2nd set was fine Good Luck
You may be in a state which flouridates its water supply (California does not). Check with your state's department of public health to find information on this. If so, any water use, including making formula, brushing teeth or even breast milk will contain flouride. Flouride will turn teeth yellow, in infants and younger children more so.
There is no medical evidence that flouride is harmful to infants or anyone for that matter. The only negative effect is that teeth are yellower, but the positive effect is fewer cavities and tooth problems overall, so it has a significant positive effect on public health.
That being said, there are many public groups that assume flouride use is harmful until proven otherwise and are trying to stop its use. There are even plenty of fringe group who still believe flouride use is part of a Communist plot to weaken America.
If you do live in a state that flouridates its water, there is not much you can do to eliminate exposure other than minimizing tap water use. If you don't, it would be worth discussing with your pediatrician, since iron in formula does NOT typically cause tooth discoloration.
Well,if you drank lots of tea while pregnate, they could of turned yellow becaus of that...it happend to me.(unless youre the dad)
Iron can do some strange things. I was once taking iron supplements and my poop turned perfectly black. I stopped taking iron and within two days the desired, rich, brown colour was back.
