Is it possible for major dental work (i.e. braces) to cause sinusitis??

Question: My 10 year old has a history of sinus trouble. She had braces applied this week. The next day she came down with a major respiratory illness. The doctor said sinusitis. She has been miserable all week. The braces pain etc. and then stuffy runny nose with sneezing etc.

Is there a connection between the braces application and the ailment?
Answers: Call the doctor right away and get antibiotics. However there is no way to prove that the dental work was the monster. She may have contacted the virus before the dental work and it just happened the symptoms appeared after the dental work.Viruses and bacteria all have differ ant incubation periods and this leads to differ ant symptoms and when they actually appear as infection or in her case a respiratory illness. Sorry another mommy problem. Children do get sick.. Remind her to always wash her hands to avoid as many of those germs as possible. If need be remind the Dentist too.
