How bad is coffee for my teeth??

Question: Recently, I've started drinking much more coffee than I used (I usually used have a kinda *coffee morning* with dad on the weekends, and that was it!!)...... nowadays i drink about 2 cups in one day....there are times though when i drink just 1 (will power can work...) and there are times when i drink 3 just to keep myself awake and get some work done.....

but i've been told that coffee is really bad for your teeth, and once your teeth are stained, they stay that way.....and now i'm paranoid that i'm ruining my teeth, especially since they're an asset i've always prided myself on!

any ideas or suggestions?
Answers: They have whitening kits at walmart, walgreens, CVS, etc. Those will remove stains, if you want pearly whites :)

Just brush your teeth regularly, and you should be fine ^_^

*and, drinking coffee will not rot off your teeth!!! (sugar, on the other hand....lol)
i don't think one or two cups a day is going to do anything, but if you're worried go to your dentist for advice.
stop drinking coffee then
I drink coffee too. For years and years. Sometimes 4 cups a day. I have stained teeth and just use crest white strips. Been using it for 3 years. Now they're white. Watch the sugar in the coffee though. I drink mines w/o. And brush often or rinse ur mouth after drinking. Good luck!
Coffee does stain your teeth, to avoid this you can brush your teeth after each cup, or try drinking the coffee through a straw! If you have lots of sugar in your coffee then this would also be bad for your teeth as the bacteria in your mouth will feed off of the sugar.

Once your teeth are stained it's very easy to whiten them again, particularly if they are just stained from coffee, tea, smoking etc, what we call surface stains. There are affordable home kits out there that do work which create custom trays for your teeth just as they would at the dentist, you then wear carbamide peroxide gel in your trays each day for around two weeks.

During the treatment you should try and cut down on as much coffee as you can as your teeth will be more porous to stains during the bleaching process.
Coffee can stain your teeth, so go for regular cleans at your dentist. Maybe brush your teeth at lunchtime as well as in the morning and at night. It's not just the staining, what about the sugar?
Coffee, tea and red wine will all stain your teeth.

It's a small price to pay for the pleasure they bring.
