How long should you wait after getting a root canal to get fitted for a permanent crown??
Question: I recently had a root canal and was told I would have to wait three weeks before getting things started with the crown. In the meantime while waiting for the first root canal to heal, I was told I would need a second root canal. Can I get things started with the first crown or should I wait until the second root canal heals and do both crown fittings at the same time?
Answers: generally the crown is done a week after the root canal. that does seem a little long but it's not uncommon. you could also talk to your dentist and see if they'd recommend waiting and having them both done or suggest going ahead with the first.
The procedure is often complicated, depending on circumstances, and may involve multiple visits over a period of weeks.
It depends where the two teeth are in your mouth. If both of them are in the same quadrant of your mouth, I would wait to have it done at the same time. If they are in different areas, than go ahead & get started on the other crown. Good luck
You should wait until both teeth are asymptomatic before having the teeth prepared for crowns. This way if a problem should arise you won't have the inconvienience of having the DDS trying to remove your new crown. If the teeth on not close to one another then go ahead and get started with the first crown provided you are not having any continued sensitivity with it. Good Luck
