Why does my tooth still hurt??

Question: I had root canal done in October and now have a crown over that same tooth. My tooth still hurts. When I floss there is blood. Lots of food get stuck each time I eat. Is this normal or do I need to go back to the dentist?
Answers: This could be due one of many problems:
1- If you feel pain with biting, this is due to failed root canal treatment
2- In your case, my best guess is that you have a gum problem which could be due to over-contoured crown, facially or lingually, which accumulates food underneath it.
3- it could be that the crown has no or very broad contact with the adjacent tooth.
4- the crown margins could be extending deep inside the gum it shouldn't exceed 1 mm , which also can make a problem.

A dentist should examine the crown..
Good Luck
