I had a tooth extraction (molar) 7 weeks ago. I have been dealing with exposed, excess jaw bone since then.??

Question: I have been back to the oral surgeon at least 15 times. He has sanded and cut the jaw bone to try to smooth it out so gum will grow over it. This is extremely painful. I have no infection. exrays are fine. These are not bone splinters. This is actually my jaw. There are no loose pieces of bone. Anyone ever heard of this or had this? I was told that this happens mostly in men but he has never seen it this bad. I am tired of the pain and the side effects of the pain killers. Can anyone help me?????
Answers: That sounds awful!

You definitely need a second opinion. Is there a university near you that has a dental/oral surgery school? If so, try to get an appointment with an oral surgeon who teaches there--they're often the best in the profession.

Good luck!
Oh my goodness! you sound like you feel bad! I hope things start to look up. Talk to your Doctor about the reason he feels that you are still having this much pain. Also, you might be wise to go see another Dentist for a second opinion. sometimes Doctor's do make mistakes. Surely not on purpose. And then you might consider this to... that your body may just need some time to heal. So hope you do start to feel better! God Bless you and do take care!
GO BACK TO YOUR DENTIST
go to a different dentist if this one is not helping, you should do it soon.
