Dear Dentist: my mouth hurts real bad after 8 days of 4 molar extractions. Normal??

Question: I've taken mild medication for this but the pain is horrible and I can't even eat normally. Will this last long?
Answers: You might have a dry socket, which takes a bit more time to heal. But it would be good to call your dentist and tell him.
I would say yes because molars are the big kahunas in the mouth.Ow.I feel your pain. However, you don't want to have contracted an infection which can also cause great pain.Go see your dentist if in a few days it doesn't subside just to be sure. And try not to eat anything that is going to irritate your gums anymore than they already are.Stay away from citrus, hard to chew items, etc. At least now you wont ever have to have a molar extracted!
you probably have a dry socket, which occurs when you smoke or sip drinks through a straw after surgery. That leaves the bone exposed to air due to dislodging the blood clot and is painful as the dickens. If it doesn't ease up in a few days, go back to your oral surgeon. He can pack the sockets which will help with the pain.
