Jaw bone inside of bottom mouth??

Question: i was hoping there is someone out there that can relate to what im about to ask. hard to explain. has anyone noticed that there bottom jaw bone inside mouth underneith bottom teeth has two round bumps? if you take your tongue and feel on both sides of bottom of mouth you should feel them.if you do. does one feel bigger than the other? hope someone has an answer. thanks
Answers: They are definitely mandibluar tori. Not everyone has them, but they are a variation of normal and usually aren't a problem at all. They can change size over time and aren't always symmetrical from one side of your mouth to the other. As someone already answered, they can cause problems with dentures and can make taking dental X rays REALLY fun, but usually nothing needs to be done with them. If they start to grow very large to the point where they annoy you, or get in the way when you talk or eat, or the skin covering them gets irritated, they can be surgically reduced. Hope this helps!
LOL that's funny. Look it's normal. I forget what it's called, I learned the technical name in school. I believe it's called tori, which just means a rounded ridge. It isn't going to be the same in every mouth. Everyone's Tori is different. This is why if you ever need any kind of oral work done involving prosthetics, we have to take a mold of your mouth.

It's fine. unless it's growing, it is absolutely normal.
I don't have an answer why it is this way but I know exactly what you are talking about I have noticed this also
They are probably mandibular tori. They are normal, just outgrowths of bone that some people have, and some don't. Tori can be found on the hard palate as well. The only major problem they can cause is making it very hard to get dentures and partials to fit properly.
