Answers: I'm afraid I can't answer for Georgia, tho' I have a colleage who practiced there for 20 years so i'll ask him this week.
Here's how it is in Ohio, New Hampshire and a number of other states.
Medicare is for older or chronically ill people. it has nothing to do with dental.
Medicaid is for people who are poor enough to qualify. Even if you qualify based on income etc, medicaid has limited dental coverage. Sometimes it's just kids; sometimes it's just basic services sometimes it covers nothing but emergency extractions.
Assuming you are under 19, and assuming you qualify for medicaid, then you will have to then demonstrate that your teeth are severely crooked enough to qualify ; usually you have to have VERY VERY crooked or crowded teeth or traumatic bites or wickedly huge (like one inch) over or underbites for medicaid to cover that.
You shoudl understand that medicaid is based on money that the government gives out that everyone pays taxes to that. If you just think, oh, my teeth would look nicer if they were straighter that's fine, but the government has so many things to spend money on, they can't afford to pay for braces for people who don't have dental insurance.
Now, in MY opinion, I would rather pay for everyone to have braces than pay so the gov't can spend billions in Iraq, but that's a topic for elsewhere.
if you can't afford braces now, just save up! you can always get them later; Tom Cruise got his at 39!
good luck1
Medicare is insurance for people over 65 years old or who have chronic kidney failure. It is not dental insurance.
You can't use either medicare or Medicaid for cosmetic procedures, even if you were eligible for coverage.
