Mega bad infection in my wisdom teeth, seen the dentist got antibiotics, any ideas for the pain? help i hurt!??

Answers: i got the same at the moment i bin taking ibuprofen the 500 mg ones u can only take 1 but they work clove oil is gross and makes your breathe stink so don't recommend that
Go to the chemist and get some clove oil and also a hot flannel or hot water bottle will do the trick..
make sure that is doesn't burn your face but it will work...
anti-inflammatory and Paracetamol i had an infection and my dentist told me to take these. it worked, and a warm compress.
No dont put anything hot on it...... trust me i know!!! clove oil is good but tastes gross.try paracetamol and codeine that should help with pain,
didn't the dentist give you a painkiller?
a hot water bottle, aspirin/tyelenol may help
sometimes anbesol helps
clove oil, dab on your tooth with a cotton swab. or ibuprofen (nurofen)
I had a huge filling once that was almost a root canal. My dentist gave me nurofen before I left, but it didn't do the job. I went to see a kickass pharmacist and he gave me two things that he said he recommends for dental pain:-
1. Mersyndol - pain killer commonly used for migraine. Comes in non drowsy day formula too now. Apparently it's great for dental stuff.
2. A local anaesthetic gel. Xylocaine I think it was. You can use it on any mucous membrane on your body. It is magic!!
Go see your local pharmacist and ask what you can buy over the counter!
Oil of clove will help for a short while, but, I used whisky on a cotton bud. It numbs the pain.
Antibiotics only work when the full course has been taken. I've been in the same pain and I really wish you well. It's a complete BASTARD !!
I really feel sorry for you.
My dentist said the antibiotics would take 24 hours to kick in and as paracetamol was not doing anything for the pain - he suggested getting a bottle of Polish Spirit (70% alcohol) from the local deli and swill a cap full round the area. It worked. As the alcohol is so strong it numbs the gum.
if it is a lower wisdom tooth, they chances are that it is partially erupted( not through all the way) i suggest going to the chemist and getting a brush called interdental, dip this in hot salt water and clean all around the tooth, it will bleed and it will be sore, but it gets rid of all the bacteria, keep cleaning it til the bleeding starts
good luck if no better see the dentist again
nurofen extra is good aswell, contains codeine,
Some sort of anti-inflammatory pain killer will help - something like Nurofen (ibuprofen).

Holding a cold compress to the outside of your jaw will also help as will rinsing your mouth out with warm salty water - tastes horrible, but does work!
oil of cloves just dab a bit around by tooth, great stuff.
I suffer really badly with my teeth I always have a mega box of PARAMOL it's in a black box they are wonderful always kills the pain. Go get some but stick to the dosage they are very strong
Good Luck
yeah, Take a bra and insert ice cubes into the cups and proceed to wrap around head until comfortable, if this is uncomfortably chilling on your skin apply a dry washcloth between your face and the ice. And this can also work with warm wash clothes if your wring them out REALLY well. good luck
keep taking the anti biotics as prescribed, this is the best defence and will ease the pain quickly, you could also try Brufen tablets as these are anti inflammatory and may help. when the pain is easier do keep taking anti biotics until you were told or pain will be back with avengance.
Hi.

Clove oil has excellent properties that reduce pain but does not taste too good, just rub one or two drops on the area with a clean cotton bud.

Amebsol Liquid is also very good, I have used this for teething ulcers, the works. It numbs the area where the pain is and is antibacterial too. (liquid is better than the gel as this will not slide off your gums).

Hope this helps
Anti-inflammatory tablets AND paracetamol. Try a warm 'hot water bottle' on your cheek and some teething gel. If that doesn't work try phoning NHS direct
you can used aspirin or ibuprofen 200mgx3/day
In addition to using the pain medication of your choice, sleep on an extra pillow to elevate your head. Sleep on the side that does NOT have a toothache. If that doesn't work, you can move to a recliner or the sofa so you can keep your head really elevated. This will minimize the blood flow to the area and therefore minimize the throbbing and pain. This might help you make it through the night until you can see a dentist again.
I was in so much pain, i went to the docs and got some super strength pain killers (30mg codeine + 500mg paracetamol) sent me loopy!
Oil of cloves smells a bit but put on with cotton wool should do the trick until the infection goes down.
