How effective are teeth whiteners??
Question: even if i were to have my dentist whiten my teeth professionally i've heard that sometimes the procedure isn't that effective.
Answers: The color of your teeth is determined by the color of your dentin. Overlying the dentin is your enamel, which is opaque. This means the color of your teeth is the dentin showing through the enamel. Whitening can help eliminate extrinsic stains, so can in office polishing. If you want to whiten your teeth I would suggest talking to your dentist first. Crest whitening strips are a cheap way to help remove some intrinsic staining -There are several different kinds and your dentist may even offer the professional strength for you to purchase in the office. I have used both the regular white strips and the professional strength which I purchased at school. If you have sensitive teeth you might not want to use them as often as the directions say. I have never had my teeth bleached in the office, which from what I have seen has the best results. I guess I would recommend getting your teeth polished selectively to remove stain, and then maybe using whitening strips. Keep in mind this won't be a permanent solution though! Age, your eating and drinking habits, and time will also affect your whitening results.
If you have sensitive teeth it can be painful.
not as effective as coffee is at ruining it!
The strips are the best but the active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide, so you could just swap some on a cute tip and put on your teeth, then rinse out.
The healthiest teeth are not the whitest teeth.
Don't smoke, easy on the coffee, brush once or twice a day, floss, and you'll be fine.
i use the original crest white strips, and they work really well... the gel on the strips tastes kinda gross, but if you can handle it for 30 minutes, you're golden! and they are really easy to use... you put one on top and one on bottom 2 times a day, you can even do them one right after the other, you don't have to do one in the morning and then one at night or anything like that... i'd say they are worth the $20
I used the crest whitestrips premium. My teeth did get a few shades whiter but nothing like the results you see on TV. If you have sensitive teeth it will be a bit painful. 1 of my tooth was sensitive to it and it hurt. It was throbbing but I didn't want to take off the strip until it was time to take them off.
i don't really find someone using them actually.
i only see these advertisements once in a while. don't know if they actually work. what matters is, i guess, strong and healthy teeth.
There are three common procedures to whiten teeth, as follows:
1. Over the counter strips
2. Professional cleaning (with use of laser)
3. Bleaching Trays
I've tried the OTC strips and they work ok but if you're goal is to get them really white, well then it actually depends on your cash flow situation and time. If you money isn't an option, you can get them professionally done using BriteSmile or Zoom. However, it is recommended to continue to bleach them afterwards to maintain whiteness. Additionally, getting them professionally done is a good procedure to use if you have an event coming up and want to get your teeth a couple shades whiter. So basically if your strapped for time, get them professionally done or if you have the cash, get them professionally done.
Bleaching trays are your best option in terms of longevity and cost, but it takes some time to get them super white. You can purchase the trays and bleaching cream and use them over a period of time to continually get them whiter.
I, personally, was close to getting them professionally done but I was told (by very reliable sources) that the procedure isn't as effective as the bleaching trays. Thus, i'm opting for bleaching trays.
If your teeth are sensitive, you can buy some de-sensitizing cream and then use the trays.
I had a friend do BriteSmile. I definitely noticed the difference but he would have to go back several times to get them the way he wanted... Hope this helps.
They are effective, you can see a difference right away if you have it done in the office. Some people have the one that you do yourself at home and they may not see change right away. Sometime the in office whitening procedure may need to be done twice for some people who's teeth do not whiten right away. But it works most of the time for most people, they like the results. And about sensitivity that also depends on the person. You may not be sensitive at all.
