Questions about braces???
Question: 1. What's the difference between chain bands and regular elastics, and do chain bands go on your brackets or like in the back?
2. My teeth are already shifting since I got 4 teeth pulled, not even a month ago. Is it possible my teeth could move into right position in under a year (ortho said about a year)?
3. I have a chorus concert the day after I get braces on. Any advice?
4. Are/were you happy with your results?
5. Any stories about braces/ortho's?
6. Any other advice for me???
Answers: 1. I only had the regular elastics that went on the side.
2. I had braces to close a gap I had on my 2 front teeth. When I first got my braces the Doctor said I will have them for 1 year, but my teeth moved so fast, I had my braces taken off 6 months later. If you have alot of space in your mouth, you may have the braces taken out before time.
3. Make sure the Doctor prescribes your Ibuprofen 600mg. You take a pill 30 minutes before your concert, and you will be just fine.
4, 5. Yes and no. I just got married so all my pictures look beautiful. I actually now open my mouth when I smile but once again, my teeth shift so fast that even if I wear my retainer at night, I still see a little opening 30 minutes after I take it off. My orthodontist was in shock to see this actually happenned. In order for my teeth to stay together, they had to put bonding in the back of them, but after a few months it wears off and I have to get the bonding all over again. I am used to it.
6. A few things to keep in mind:
Your teeth will become very sensitive to hot, cold, and sweet.
When eating steak or sandwiches you will have to cut into small pieces as bitting will be painful.
Every month when you get your braces tighten you will be in pain for a day or two.
Have a wonderful meal prior to going to get your braces on. You will not feel the pain until 30 mintes after they have been put in. After that you will probably not eat any solid food for a couple of days as you will be in lots of pain, after that you will go back to your normal eating habits.
Do not chew gum, drink anything that contains caffeine (this will make your teeth very yellow. Remember you will have braces on top of your teeth, and the caffeine residue will stay underneath)
Try to keep your mouth close when you are outside and it's very cold. Your teeth will become very sensitive after you start wearing braces, and this will not change after they are taken off.
I hope this helps. I am not trying to scare you, I am just being very honest and realistic about my experience. Believe me, time will fly throughtout this whole process and when you least expect it, you will have a wonderful smile........... Oh, don't forget to wear your retainer after braces come off..... Good luck with your concert.......
Chain bands are cool looking but they hurt so much worse. They both go on your brackets.
Yes, It is possible but I also had my 4 teeth pulled two top and two bottom and they did straighten up alot but my ortho said I should still get braces because they will for sure be straight and no overbite.
After you get your braces on they don't really hurt until about 45mins. later then they hurt bad. But the next day you should be all right as long as you don't have to eat it took me 3days to learn to eat.
My teeth are very straight now with no overbite.
Before you go get your braces on you should take some advil.
HOPE I HELPED,
MISS MOLLY
Chain bands probably go on your front teeth (I got Power Chains there). My regular elastics went on my back brackets.
2.You're teeth could shift in 6 months (if you follow you're Ortho Diet (no gum, sweets, chewy stuff) correctly). Or, they could shift in 2 years.
3. No advice. Sing well, and don't get nervous.
4. I am happy with my results so far. I'll be happier when I get them off (lol!).
5.No stories.
6.No other adivice. Follow your doctors orders.
Good Luck!
1) chain bands pull all of your teeth together, and regular just keep the teeth in place and gradully shift them over.
2) possibly, if your teeth are already moving into the right places then you might have just had overlap
3)you'll be slightly sore but drink ALOT of water the day you get them on and bring chap stick also
4) im very happy with my results there straight and its so worth it.
5) no storys except dont believe ppls when they tell you that the whole thing hurts horribly it only hurts possibly a few days later.
6) other than drink water and bring the chapstick, oh wait, when your ortho ask you to do something such as wearing rubber bands etc. do it it'll take the time off wearing braces!
Good Luck!!
I have the Invisaline braces. You can see if you are a candidate for them.
I love them because I can take them off for short periods of time ie: a party, pictures.
I get new ones about every three weeks. Take them out when you eat, brush, put them back in. cool...............
2. Sure, it depends on how well your treatment goes. As long as you don't miss any appointments and you don't any food that's too hard that it will break/pop your wire, you should be good. I used to eat hard food that would make my wire pop out and I got two months behind because of it, so be careful about how hard the food your eating is.
3. Oh wow, the day after you get your braces is when it gets really painful to eat, and at times even when you're not eating. Good luck with that.
4. I'm not done yet, but so far I'm really happy. My top jaw was really straight to begin with but my bottom was just a mess. It's really nice to see it straightening out.
6. The day after you get your braces, it'll be really painful to eat. This will continue for about a week. Ramen, smoothies, yogurt, and ice cream are all things I ate during this week. Otherwise, this is one of the few times you will really feel any pain. When you get your braces tightened (monthly) it will be a little sore, but nothing more, usually.
You can also think about invisalign if you're worried about looks, but most people look pretty nice/cute with braces and so many people have them that it's not a big deal. However, if you're teeth need a serious fix, invisalign is not all that effective.
1. Um, not sure, sorry.
2. Definetely, teeth can move very quickly, just be careful not to break a braket, that will slow down the process.
3.Take lots of ibuprofine before you get them on, that will help ease you into the intitial pain. Keep taking (at recomended doesage of course) for about a week, then you shouldn't have much pain.
4. Yes, very much, my mouth looks and feels much better than before.
5. lol, don't eat popcorn or ice the day after you get them on, I did and broke a lot of brakets
6. Make sure you get wax either from your ortho or from a local drug store. If you get a small cut or sore in your mouth from the braces, put on wax right away. Trust me, you will feel like it will go away, but put on wax before it gets worse, it almost always does.
Chain bands are cool looking but they hurt so much worse. They both go on your brackets.
im not sure about ur second question as iv never had teeth pulled myself. must have been pretty painful to have gotten four donr
well it is painful for about a week after you get your braces so i advise you get the appointment changed. and if you cant take a few parcdamol and youll be fine
my ortho seems to have a good reputation she did my sisters braces and my brothers braces and they all have really straight teeth
i dont have much other advice. i was really worried when i was geetin mine but time actually flies i got mine september 2005 and i was told last month i could get them off soon so time flies and when you get them off youll get loads of attention of your friends ispecialla thoughs who have never seen you without your braces. so dont worry about it you can also get braces alightyly smaller then the normal ones but there said to be not as good so id stick with the average size if i were you
