I gots to have a root canal fri will i get any pain meds or anitbotics afterwards (i have a very sens mouth)??
Question: i dont like taking meds but my mouth is ultra sensitive and the denist gave me some pain pills and pennecillin when i went for my cleanin and he found out i needed a root canal
Answers: hello its nice u got ur teeth cleaned,,,well about root canal treatment well we usually prescribe analgesics and antibiotics before the treatment if too much pain or sensitivity is there,,,,cause during the treatment if u have taken the medications before or have started the course ,,it brings own the sensitivity,,,,and u will be more comfortable with the treatment i believe,,,ask ur dentist he will precribe u the medication,,,,good luck for the treatment..
Tell your dentist to use latex free gloves when doing your teeth.
Latex gloves will break your mouth out.
Get some sensitive toothpaste, he may give u meds if u ask him for some.
If you tell him you have problems after any dental procedures then they will give you something for pain.
Usually you will get both, but it depends on your specific case.
the dentist should be putting some topical anesthetic first and then the injection. and since you have a sensitive mouth, i highly recommend getting those anesthetics and not refusing them, because without it, the pain is unbearable. before the dentist even begins you should have no sensation in the area that needs work, and if at anytime you feel any sensitivity or pain, request your dentist to inject a little more anesthetic.
and after a root canal usually they will give you a saline solution to keep the area clean, and since you have a sensitive mouth, if the dentist doesnt offer any post meds, just ask him for some.
Please, don't ask them for pain pills if you have a choice.
They make you feel like crap, and it's just like takeing an illegal drug (the way you feel)
