I had to have dentures 2 years ago, I hate them even though they look and feel good.??
Question: Are implants a better option if I could ever afforf them ? Or would it depend on the condition of bones. I mostly lost my teeth due to gum shrinkage and oste-arthritis. Help please.
Answers: Implants are very good.
They can be used to help support a denture from movement (an overdenture ) like press-studs, or they can hold fixed bridgework in place.
The loss of bone is not always a problem. For an overdenture it can be a benefit as it allows more room under the denture.
Next you have to find someone and have a consultation to find out your suitability and costs.
Get at least 2 opinions for this major undertaking. At the first consultation tell them upfront that you will be seeking a second opinion and that you would like copies of Xrays and models etc. This will save you some costs.
My husband wants me to lose all my teeth coz he says I can take out my dentures and give him a gum job !!!!!!!!!!
Seriously - I would think carefully about implants because you will then be prone to infections not to mention the pain of having them done - I have 2 implanted teeth and they are grief. xx
it,s all to do with the condition of your bones ask your dentist to do a x-ray you may not be suitable ,then you can decied if you want them or not
It is an expensive and painful process to get implants. Ask your dentist.
I had dentures for >50 years. I tried to get implants, but didn't like the dentures the dentist made for me, so I disn't do it.. The important thing is getting a good look and fit. The only hard part is tomato seeds under lowers. You only need implant posts for lowers.
If you are rich it wouldnt be a problem to get implants on your teeth. I am an orthidontist. You should go to your dentist or doctor and ask if your bones are healthy enough to get that done. Good luck.
they don't do implants if you are diabetic or i would go for it and i don't think they do it if you have gum shrinkage
