Why does only one side of my gums hurt after I flossed my teeth??
Question: I flossed every tooth and when I came to the back left side of my teeth near the back of my mouth,my gums starting hurting a few mins later.
I floss almost every day and this has never happened before.
thanks.
Answers: Its good that you floss everyday...flosses actually clear up any plaque or food accumulation interdentally(between the teeth)..and any one who is using them is doing a great favour to his perio(gums and surrounding structure) health...
if during flossing any of your gum hurts, chances are that the place of your gums may be slightly inflamed(Again due to plaque accumulation.etc.).This condition is also known as gingivitis(note:please also observe that during brushing does that area or someother gum area usually bleed...that may well be an indication of gingivitis)....
and might I add,are you using the floss in a proper way...if not, then, that may also slightly damage the gums...
So,if this condition continues, get yourself checked by a PERIODONTIST(A person specialized in the field of periodontology-study of gums and surrounding structure)...Meanwhile,you could brush that area properly and use mouthwash once a day if you have it....
MAY BE A SIGN OF DECAY. IF IT CONTINUES--ID GO SEE THE DENTIST
YOU HAVE AN INFECTION THERE. TOOTH OR GUM..TAlK TO PHARMACIST OR DOCTOR . not friends.
meantime gargle with salt water.
spit it out after shwiszzing in mouth.
be careful do not kiss other mouths.or Breathe close to kids.
Pains are warning signs.. act wisely.
have you been chewing gum lately? sometimes, you can irritate the gums and the tooth bed in the jaw itself due to chewing on one side more than the other. If you ate something really chewy try popping some peanuts or rasins in your mouth and see which side you chew on. I bet it's the back left side. If you feel pain tomorrow, you may want to schedule yourself in for a dental checkup to see if there's any underlying problems that may be more serious (before it's too late).
schedule it for around 2:30 (tooth-hurty).
Hope the pain goes away soon.
