Inflamed gums PLEASE HELP!??
Question: I have braces, and my gums are inflamed. The orthodontest says its because i dont floss enought but i floss 3 times a day and it doesnt help. Is there any way to fix this?? help pleaseee
Answers: Make sure you're flossing correctly - you can ask the assistants or hygienists at any office to show you how to be sure you're on the right track.
Secondly, use an anti-gingivitis rinse. Listerine is OK, but the alcohol may dry out your gums. For your age, I'd be more likely to recommend Crest Pro-Health rinse. Just as good as Listerine and no alc.
Lastly, ask for a power brush for Christmas! I think Sonicare is far and away the best. They run about $120 or so but you can get them at my office (and, as I noticed last night!) at Kohl's for $90 or so.
good luck!
Use a sonic toothbrush, sonicare makes a cheep one, in the elite series, thats good for braces. Also use a mouth rinse like crest pro health or is you can stand the burn use listerine. you may also want to try a pre brush rinse like plax, that will help remove the plaque which in turns reduces the inflamation.
i work for an orthodontist and we see this all the time, first of all if you sleep with your mouth open( mouth breather) it could cause it, take your toothbrush and massage your gums gently each time you brush, it should help them go down
