Help me omgsh im so scared!!!??
Question: my friend is tall like 5 foot 6
she is 11
she is skinny
and she thinks she is fat!!!
does she have an eting disorder??
Answers: Not necessarily, but she probably is buying into suggestive media that makes her think she is inadequate in some way. At 11, she is really young and probably just beginning her female development. Her body may change after puberty. Make a pact that you won't look at beauty magazines and compare your bodies to those of others--especially the highly manufactured images of the media. That will help with her misperception.
i had a friend who was like 100 pounds but she said she was fat it wasnt cuz she looked fat it was because she looked skinny but it was all fat she wasnt fit or toned maybe your friend means shes unfit and all fat not toned
Most girls complain that they are fat at one time or another because we get bombarded by images in the media of perfectly impossible women's figures. Thinking you are fat is not, by itself, an eating disorder.
Eating disorders have as much to do with control as they do with weight. You have to look at your friend's behavior to know if she's at risk. Does she eat the way the rest of your friends do? Or does she avoid eating around you, engage in peculiar rituals with her food (eating only one color food, for example,) get defensive when you ask her about her eating?
If she's eating normally and appears healthy but gripes about being fat, she's just going through what we all go through sometimes. If you think that the way she treats food is unusual, though, you need to talk to her about it.
