Are carbs getting a bad rap?????

Question: Okay I'm old... But I remember the day when you needed carbs and plenty of em to survive... Another question? What are the buz words for 100% whole wheat bread? in order for it to be stone ground whole wheat bread, the first ingredient needs to be stone ground or is it whole wheat flour?Packaging labels are getting more and more confusing to read... They say whole grain but the first ingredient is whole wheat flour... Not the same thing, right?
Answers: Too much carbs can be bad, but so can too much of just about anything.

Most people that are fanatical about cutting carbs actually need to get off their lazy rear ends and go for a jog or do some situps. You will be a lot healthier if you work out instead of nitpicking everything you eat.

Whenever I am going on a long bike ride (30-40 miles + ) I usually eat lots of carbs - pasta, etc. It gives me extra energy.
Whole grains can be anything, wheat, oats, seeds, etc.
Stone ground is just a method of grinding the wheat and isn't necessary in order to have whole wheat bread.
Carbs are not bad, especially if they come from whole grains etc. The thing that makes some people avoid them is the too easily digested and absorbed carbs, like sugars, and white flour.
Carbs are also usually avoided on low carb diets such as atkins.
Hope I didn't confuse you more.
There are good carbs and bad carbs.

Good carbs are good for you. These are the complex carbs in potatoes, brown bread, brown rice, et al. These take a while for your body to break down and release into your body.

the bad carbs are the refined carbs in pasta, white rice, white bread, et al.

Your body breaks them down and releases them into your body all at once, and this causes your body to have more carbs than it can deal with all at once, and they are stored as fat.
