Can anyone please give me real & practical ways of slimming?especially with D type of food we have in africa???
Answers: In Ghana where I lived they use too much cooking oil (palm oil) to make all dishes. If you do that, cut that out first and just steam or cook your vegetables, rice, or yams. That way you can be slimmer as your food contains less calories.
Eat lots of fresh vegetables, they are abundant in Africa, and some fresh fruit. Eat 4 smaller meals per day, not huge meals at the beginning or the end of the day.
If you can find them, start substituting meat with soya or fish products, they are generally less fattening and easier on your stomach.
Many african diets are very healty naturally, but they are meant for high labour intensive lives, so they contain lots of fat. Now that many Africans are urbanising and having office jobs, it's better to substitute diets with less fats, and smaller meals, and filling vegetables in stead of meat products.
I find the ivorian and the ethiopian cuisines the best in terms of healthy diets in Africa. Ivorians have a french influence in cooking vegetables, and ethiopians have a thousand years old food culture with the sour injera bread added with several cooked sauces, vegetable mashes, or meat dishes that you simply eat with the bread.
And avoid drinking coca cola or fanta, they have too much sugar, drink water or fresh juices.
LOTS OF CHICKEN AND VEGETABLES AND FRUIT CUT OUT D TYPE OF FOOD YOU NORMALLY EAT LIKE MAIZE MEAL.
Although I'm not familiar with the food you eat in Africa, I'd generally advise you to eat slower so that you feel full even when you've eaten less. Also, you can drink plenty of water before your meal and during the meal. Avoid other drinks because they have calories, too.
i wish i knew which country you are in, then i could help you better.
but from my knowlegde of african food, i know that they are normally low in fat but are high in carbohydrates.
I will advice you to eat very little carbohydrate and add more vegetables to your diet.
Substitute soft drinks with water. Good luck
