Do you think that by taking swimming lessons you would gain abs ??

Answers: No. As a swimmer I can tell you that swimming lessons may help you learn to swim but unless you take extra time after swim lessons to swim more you won't do much. Swimming is great for toning. Try jogging slow long distances to lose the fat and crunches and other stomach excercise to define. Swimming on top of that is icing on the cake but only the butterfly stroke/kick works the abs much so get a kick board.
swimming would increase the strength of your muscles but tends not to bulk you up.
swimming's more a toning whole-body workout. If you want great abs without endless crunches, try climbing or snowboarding.
You might be able to become more lean which can result in more definition of your abs, but it probably won't help you gain abs, unless you are also doing ab exercises.
Take swimming lessons to learn how to swim. Once you learn how to swim you can then go snorkling, which is a lot of fun. And you never know when swimming might come in handy. Every year hundreds of people drown because they have not a clue on how to swim.
