What would be the best way to get out of a "Curves" contract??
Question: Ok ladies, I've been doing Curves for 3 years with not that great of results, I recently joined a gym with my hubby and I'm now seeing real results, having much more fun and bottom line I'm getting results, plus I can bring my kids with me as they provide childcare. I just reupped my contract with curves, any ideas on how to get out of it? I thought about going to the doc and getting a note- complain of dizziness or something, or is there some loophole in the contract that I don't know about? Any ideas would be great.
Answers: get your check or auto wothdrwl stopped, chances are they won't come after you
You might could see if they would let you sort of like sublet your aggreement. I've heard of that being done in gyms. You sell your remainder of your contract to someone else. I did it with a tanning package. Ask them and see.
I was told by someone that was in the same situation and as long as there was a person that would sign up to finish the contract she could take it over.
i know the contract well it is the same one ballys uses get a neote from the doctor if u try to use an address they will find a club they have an agreement with and not let u out that way u can sell the contract to someone else if u can find a buyer though
It would be easier to swim off Alcatraz than it is to get out of a health club contract. A medical prohibition on exercise might not even be enough. You should have your original contract stuck in a drawer or file somewhere. It will tell you exactly what the rules are for breaking the contract. The rules will heavily favor the health club. You can be sure of that. If the money you will waste by honoring the contract is less than it would take to hire an attorney you might have to do that. Good luck. I'm glad you found something that works for you.
Did you renew your contract for another 3 yrs? If so, talk to the manager. Tell them hey your gym didn't offer childcare, and I get better results at another location. After three yrs you aren't cutting it. If you are nice about it, they may let you out, but if you were at this other gym and still re-uped with this gym, you may be stuck.
I work at a ladies workout express. Lots of unsatisfied curves members join our gyms. (EVERYONE plateaus at Curves)There is usually a cancelation fee option, in which they will cancel your contract for 20% of the total remaining balance. Other curves will dojust canceling it for an additional month. If their contract is ironclad (they all make their own) you just have to be sure of the renewal date and be sure to call 30 days before your last month because most of the time they will automatically renew (its usually written in super fine print somewhere you can't see and would never think about.) If you are desperate, you can cancel yourcredit card (if its an auto-deduct) and hope they won't care about it enough to go to collections. Good luck and congrats on finding a system that works!
remember that these places make most of their off people who don't come. One way to get out is to say that you've moved some where further then 25 miles away from a curves. You'll need to have a bill or something that has your adress and name so you may need a friend to help you with this
