Can't seem to lose any belly fat after thousands of situps and crunches! What other stomach exercises flatten??
Answers: You're going about things the wrong way. You can't spot reduce. You won't lose belly fat by just doing sit-ups. You must decrease your overall body fat %.
If you really want to get in shape, it will require dedication and a complete lifestyle change. You must change what you eat, how you eat, and must be fully-dedicated to hitting the gym. Less than 9 months ago I was overweight. Now, I have 8-pack abs. You can change your body too....
1. Eat 6 light meals a day. Every 2.5 to 3 hours. Do not skip breakfast!! Eat your first meal within an hour after waking up.
2. Change your calorie mix. Amp up your protein intake and minimize the carbs and fats that you consumer per day. Whey, dairy, lean meat, egg and wheat proteins are best. Ideally, you should be eating about 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight.
3. Cut your overall calorie intake. But, not by too much at once or you will slow down your metabolism! Cut your calories/day by about 100-200 for the first couple of weeks. Depending on your weight and body structure...you should be consuming roughly 2,000 calories per day. You want to be sure to burn more calories than you consume each day.
4. Not all carbs and fats are the same. Eat primarily whole grains and unsaturated fats. Pay attention to the nutritional panel when you buy food! Eat most of your carbs during the first half of the day.
5. Hit the gym. Do 30-45 minutes of weight training about 5 or 6 days a week. Work out one muscle group per day, and each muscle group about once per week. Also, do at least 20 minutes of intense cardio 4 or 5 days a week. Either do your weight training and cardio at different times of the day, or do your weight training first. If you do cardio right before weight training...your body won't have sufficient energy it needs for the weight training.
i went and bought an ab lounger that works pretty good.
other thing to do is windsor pilates those RULE
crunches don't flatten they build muscle and burn calories. you have to lose weight to flatten the stomach and as you do, those abs you've been working on will start to show.
Also, watch yur sodium! Thats extremely important as sodium retains water.
sweetie, i got the same problem. I cant lose my baby belly, i am not fat at all, but i would like to lose that belly i got. lol. maybe you should aslo change your diet in addition so crunches
Unfortunately stomach exercises are not going to flatten ur stomach.
The human body distributes fat throughout the body, thus doing exercise of any kind will burn all the fat more of less uniformly. Thus to lose the stomach fat u will need to exercise. (ex. running..etc)
As the answer above says, stomach crunches do not burn fat, they build up the muscle, but if you already have a bit of a pot belly all that happens is you have well toned muscle hidden under a layer of fat! The best way of actually burning fat off is firstly eating healthily and cutting out junk food and then doing exercise like aerobic exercise-this is the kind that shifts fat from all over the body, exercise like swimming and running-the kind that gets you out of breath and your heart pumping! Good luck!!
If you keep doing crunches and try to make more low calorie low fat food choices for a month or so you will probably be very pleased with the results. You may have a great set of abs hiding under a little extra body fat. then again you may just need a little more time to grow into your body. I didn't until I was 31.[No I'm not joking]
