Working out with knees popping??
Question: my knees sound like pop corn when I do lunges and balanced lunges, but there is no pain. I am 47, and wonder if I am slowly damaging my knees. I have been doing the same split workout for about 5 years, with no change in my knee health. Should I change my technique? I am currently using 2 30lb dumbells and do 3 sets of 25 reps. Answers: I have the same thing in my elbows when I do push-ups. That did happen to me once in my knees. I had been over-exercising my body, not giving my self enough time to rest. The popping started first, then I got tendinitis in both my knees.
I would recommend thinking about finding another exercise to stay in shape. The popping sound is the sound of your ligaments and tendons snapping across your bones. To much of that repetitively, and you will cause damage.
well i'm no doctor but it sounds to me like you could just be getting older.if there's no pain,strain, or excess tension than i probably wouldn't worry about. but just to be on the safe side i would still contact a knee specialist, better safe than sorry you know. but in the mean time try to give your body a rest your still young and taking a day off can't do any thing but help you. you don't want to take a chance and destroy any tissue keeping your muscles from rubbing together.
better not to do the more strenuous exercises with yr knees. try some Pilate's or yoga. as you get older sometimes you cant take alot of weight and pressure on the knee joints.
i think there are poppers and nonpoppers
like the pop when you bend your knees--they're caused by air trapped inside the knees (so i've heard)
