How much should a person 6ft tall healthily weigh? I'm 6ft and my weight is 160 lbs. I got to put on weight...?
Question: What I thought I shoud do was to put on some weight and then turn my new weight (fat?) into muscles..but I'm not so sure that's how it works...What should I do? Put on some weight? or getting fit has nothing to do with that?
Answers: Are you a guy or gal? 6 feet, 160 lbs. wanting to put on weight? I'm guessing you're a teenage young man who's not done growing yet. Give yourself time.
Depending on your body type, you might not be able to gain much more weight. Ectomorph is the naturally skinny, runner-type body that has difficulty putting on weight and keeping it on due to high metabolism. Mesomorph is the Arnold Schwarzenegger body type that's athlethic, powerful, and builds muscle easily. Endomorph is the softer, rounder, pear-shaped body. These people have great difficulty in losing weight (esp. in the area they really want to lose it in...the bottom), and have little success-to-effort ratio where building muscle is concerned. Doesn't mean it can't be done, it's just difficult.
If you really want to gain some weight, make sure it's the healthy way. Eat a high protein diet (check with your doctor first, as some people cannot do high protein, i.e. people with kidney problems), and lift weights. It doesn't have to be the He-Man type lifting, just moderate weights geared toward building muscle mass.
Depending on your age, 160 could be just right ... but I'd say 170 is max.
P.S. You can't convert fat to muscle. Fat is fat. Plus, you'd have to put on more fat than muscle to gain the amount you wish. What I mean is, muscle weighs more than fat. If you want to gain 10 lbs., you'd have to put on more fat (volume wise) than you would muscle.
You don't need to put on more weight. you want to gain muscle mass, then exercise
Stay slim Sam, it's healthier. As you age you'll get heavier.
ya know......if you look in the mirror and like your muscle build...then you are in great shape for 160...but if you look fat at 160...then you are probably not very fit and need to work out......do pull ups and push ups....and in a month you will see results...
That is definitely NOT how it works. Put on weight by putting on muscles by eating lots of beef and going to the gym. Stay clear of high carb foods like soft drinks and breads. In a few months, you'll be a lot heavier and look a lot better.
NEVER intentionally put on weight by eating to get fat!
Eat more, but exercise more, too. If you exercise more, you will gain muscle. Simple as that, Good luck!
Umm u need 2 eat as much as u want and excersie still to kepp ya weight healthy and balanced also
um, try the link thing... i use it a lot.
im fit now woot. always have been tho hehehe woot. ahaha, uh. ya dont turn fat into muscle. ... interesting thought though.
thing that bugs me a lot is. i have a friend who is REALLY fit and she weighs 127 and when people hear about how much she weighs, they think she's fat. no she's not.
muscle weighs more than fat really. unless its a lot of fat... anyway
Last week, I got an ebook on how skinny guys can gain weight through lifting and proper eating. It is an interesting book if you have the bucks.
If you don't have the bucks, start a weight lifting routine and then up your calories. You need to find out your base level of calories and then up the calories gradually- say 500 per day. You will need to track your food- sorry.
Personally, you are at a good weight for your height and if you want to gain muscle and not become a fatso, you will need to be smart and disciplined.
A reliable BMI calculator can give you a relatively dependable heads-up on whether or not a particular weight is healthy for your age and height. For one, click here: https://www.mayoclinic.com/health/bmi-ca...
However, you cannot COMPLETELY depend on a BMI calculation. Men typically carry much greater muscle mass as a result of testosterone that women have very little of because of genetics. If you are healthy and do not have any illnesses or disease, you should be fine.
Do not feel as if you need to put on/lose weight unless it is a health issue. Consult your doctor before you begin any weight-gain/loss program
Hope that helps!
Eat more protein (some weight training and bodybuilding sites recommend about 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight to put on lean muscle mass and maintain it, while eating about roughly the same amount in carbs). Start a weight training routine if you are looking to add muscle, too. A good nutritional balance is usually in the range of 40% of calories coming from protein, another 40% from carbs (not too many from those refined carbs like white bread) and 20% from fat, most of which should be unsaturated fats (the good kind of fat).
I myself am about 5'11 and weigh near 180 lbs, which would be a fairly decent weight if I was a little more musculary developed. Otherwise, a well defined 170 to 175 would be more ideal. Since that's close to your height, I would probably suggest that would be a healthy, muscular weight -- maybe not much more than that. Not too thin, but not too bulky either. And it would be perfect if you have little bodyfat (about 8% if you want your abs to be visible, 11% to just look very fit but not cut ) and do some exercises to help with definition once you get closer to the weight that you want to be at. It'll help the new muscle to look better.
THEY ALL TELL U A LOT ABOUT HOW TO GET BIG MUSCLE BUT I WILL TELL U SHORTLY AND I HOPE IT WORKS, U SHOULD LIFT WEIGHT SIDE LATERAL TO GET NICE SHOULDER, INCLINE BB TO GET A NICE CHEST, GOOD CRUNCHES TO GET A VERY NICE 6 PACKS OKAY?
Stay away from soda, drink water, exercise, eat lean meats like fish and chicken, beef is also good but don't over-do it
gain some weight i'm 6'4 and i weight 245lbs about half of that is muscle and i'm 17 so lose as much as you can and turn it in to muscle become a big guy girls like the sixpack
lift weights. dont get fat and turn it into muscle. thats the hard way. its also unhealthy. u need to hit the weight racks and pump some iron.
Get training, muscle weighs more than fat. At 6 ft. you could be anywhere from that 160 to 190 and look great. Fat can't be turned into muscle. Fat is fat. Start lifting weights and get a scale that measures body fat. If you can gain a few inches around your arms and legs and chest and stay under say 15% body fat, you will look so good.
You are fine
For the first part of your question, please browse through the website www.healthchecksystems.com/heightweight chart. and decide. For putting wait, if required. you should do physical exercises, eat nutritious food at regular intervals and go to bed before 10 pm and have good sleep upto 6am.I think putting wait and muscle building should be simultaneous.
You dont need to put more weight on you are fine the way you are

man i wish i had you height
It's safer to put a little weight my hubby is 5'11 and weighs around 160- so lay off the protein shakes- eat more carbs once you've gained a lil bit more then do your weight lifting-your muscles will look more natural
My daughter's boyfriend needed to put on weight. He started drinking protein shakes daily, and has put on quite a bit of muscle.
on average if you are 5 feet you should be approx 100 pounds. you should be about 5 pounds for every additional inch.
you should be around 160, doctors suggest about 5% more to remain healthy (about 168) if you were to be 20-29% you are considered overweight (192-205), when you reach 30% (206-or more) more than what is suggested you are considered obese
