Rapid weight gain (scale weight) in less than a month, but no inch gain??

Question: In less than a month I have gained 20 pounds, which is very abnormal for me. I thought I might be gaining water weight due to PMS (where usually I gain about 5 pounds of water weight), but its been a week after my period and all week I've been using diuretics and natural laxatives (as directed) to see if water retention was my problem. But, I just keep gaining more scale weight by the day. I frquently take my measurements, and much to my suprise, not only have I not gained an inch but in fact have a lost a couple! I'm only 21 and look relatively thin. According to my BMI I am overweight but that is because of this sudden weight change. I definitely do not look overweight and never have. Also, lately I've been eating less and have less of an appetite. I am not pregnant either.
Any personal experiences relating to this? Or any ideas what might be causing my rapid weight gain?
Answers: I've never had the problem - I just plain gain weight and get fat, but, if you have pain, there could be an internal problem and you should get to the Doctor and explain the whole situation. Also, do you live alone? Maybe someone is playing tricks with the scale?
