Are roasted nuts more unhealthy than raw nuts?????
Question: I was watching Oprah today and this doctor was saying that raw nuts have healthy fat but when they are roasted the fat turns into 'bad' fat which can clog arteries. Has anyone ever heard of this before?? Or is this doctor a quack?
Answers: not a clue about the good fat vs. bad fat but i do know that if you buy roasted nuts they will be sooo full of salt.
I've heard that before. Also, most roasted peanuts have salt on them which adds to bad sodium as well.
They can contain more salt if bought over the counter and not made at home.
Yes, if they are salted AND/OR roasted in oil.
I buy raw peanuts....I really like the taste of them.
yes the raw ones have normal fat roasted ones are like KFC lots of greese and things u know ..not greese per say but that kinda fatty bad stuff you know...
I have heard that before and forgot it.
Raw nuts have good oil, once they are roasted the oil is just fat.
It's kind of like how raw vegetables are more healthy than cooked ones -- when the nuts get roasted some of the nutrition dies as well.
I have not heard that this is true. I think that roasting nuts with extra oil makes them worse for you, but heating nuts does not diminish their nutritional value.
That's only one part of the diet. I am sure a few roasted nuts won't hurt, unless you're allergic to nuts, of course.
Whoah! I saw this question and I was like, Hey ! I saw that on Oprah today! Okay, anyway-- my doctor was talking to me about eating almonds one time (I saw something on the news about almonds and forgot exactly what it was I asked him), and the thing about roasted nuts came up. He said the same thing that the guy said on Oprah.
