What are the pros and cons of whey protein??
Answers: The pros are:
can balance blood sugar levels
good source of lean calories
good for muscle recovery
helps lose weight by increasing muscle work capacity
The cons are:
bloating
diarhea (sp), but only with the cheaper kinds
cost
the results tend to not be the same as the picture on the bottle
the taste
Don't know of any cons, it is good stuff. It is the most used, safe reliable protein drink for body builders. I would use a reputable brand though.
The short answer is quality. Many protein powders are infamous for their poor quality, because they use low cost ingredients. However, there are some exceptional brands out there.
Another possible con is that some people may experience bloating, but it usually happens with cheap whey. There is also, what is called a “rabbit starvation”. This condition could occur when someone eats too much lean protein, and not enough fat and or carbohydrates.
Since whey comes in a powder form, potentially, it is easy to overeat it. The pros range from greater recovery from a workout to more energy, and better (faster) metabolism. Of course, all this depends on individual factors, so there is no guarantee that it will happen just because someone supplements a diet with whey.
i agree with you all.... but for me, the only con is the price.. :)
