Why are my eyes always itchy when I wake up??
Answers: You probably have dry eyes, caused by a mild inflamation of your eyelids, Blepharitis.
Try using some Simple eye ointment before going to bed, this will stop your eyes being so dry in the morning.
You could also try gently washing the edges of your eye lids with some warm water 2 times daily.

Its the crud we call sleep which I believe is the fluid that keeps our eyes clean and mobile in their sockets without friction against the lids etc. That dries up when your eyes are closed, as it dries it tightens on your lasheds and lids.
Splash some water on them
Dust mites,they live in your eyelashes. Change your pillow case ever other day and buy eye drops for sensitive and itchy eyes. See if this helps, if not your GP may prescribe you anti-histamine tablets.
I have the same problem because I have an allergy to household dust. And also I have to make sure that my glasses are made from titanium and not anyother metal as I have metal allergy.

You are allergic to something in your bedding. You should wash your duvet and vacuum your mattress well. Also use an anti allergy mattress protector. If you have cats or dogs sleeping in your room they should be banished. My dogs sleep on my bed and I wake up with red eyes sometimes especially when they are shedding from change of season but I can't bring myself to make them sleep elsewhere!

do you smoke/your partner smoke/parents smoke/do you work in a smokey atmosphere?
All of the above cause dried eyes which I suffer with too, mine tend to sting more than itch. use eye drops and go get checked out with an optician as they can tell you if this is the prob.
Do you have a pet cat/rabbit/hamster?
again I have a bunny and when he is molting it affects my eyes really badly. If this is the case, if the cat sleeps in your room don't let it and brush fur regulary to remove loose bits.
